Decided to get the Logitech MX Master mouse (after much consideration)
Just to highlight a few features on the mouse. The MX Master feels amazing with its ergonomic design and subtle curves for the thumb. It features Logitech unique Darkfield technology that enables the mouse to track on glass. The scroll wheel also features Logitech Smartshift technology that shifts the mouse to a free scroll if you scroll fast enough, increasing productivity when scrolling long documents. Other than that, there is also a gesture button for easily moving between open window, back and forward button for fast browsing. It is truly a productivity centered mouse. Bluetooth 4.0 also allows the mouse to switch between 3 different devices at a push of the button (Yes, it works with Logitech Unifying Receiver, or Bluetooth 4.0 SMART) When the mouse is lifted up with its back facing up, the number for device switching lights up to indicate the currently connected device (nice!) I'll end it here... It is late and I need to sleep (I got work tomorrow) As always, take care and I'll see you soon Long time since previous post. Here to bring another update as to what's going on recently. I did up a new setup for my table, rearranging a few things, and got a few new things :) I think the biggest change is that I'm no longer using the small 13.3" display on my laptop. I need a bigger display for productive work, like programming, or even gaming. I know that my laptop ain't going to provide enough power to do much anyway. It it still fast enough for me with some light gaming. SSD upgrade and 8GB RAM is enough I suppose? The display is a 27" Samsung Curved monitor. Been using it for a few weeks and I'm extremely happy with it. I can finally use the Windows snapping feature properly now, or even the new 1/4 snap. I bought additional hardware to make my monitor able to watch digital TV too, more on that once I've gotten those things set up. Even the plastic wrap for the monitor is still there :) Tried Dota and CS GO and its simply incredible on the huge display. Another addition is the Logitech K750 Solar Keyboard. This keyboard is great too. It works off solar power and never requires a battery change. It charges when there's enough lighting, and draws power from the built in rechargeable battery when there's not enough environment light. It also works with the Logitech Unifying Receiver. I'm actually considering a new mouse too, the Logitech MX Master to be exact :P Currently using the Logitech G400 Gaming mouse. I really have no idea whether I should switch, because I need the > 2000 DPI :/ This setup should serve me quite well for 2017. If one day I decide that I need more power, I will just replace my laptop for a newer one. The system is connected to a 500GB external HDD too for backups. I do have another 2TB external drive as master backup (Files all the way from Primary school are kept in there, even the old MSN/WLM chat logs, oops) To keep the system cool, I've also placed a external laptop fan to improve performance. I mean if you are looking for a solution to cool your laptop, never go with those fan base, instead consider an external fan. Speaker is still the Altec Lansing 2.1. My table is not actually that big for a massive 5.1 sound setup. Still enjoying my Spotify Music on it. I think there's a slight improvement due to the audio now being transmitted digitally via HDMI instead of analog 3.5mm jack. At the corner, I have my Choetech 6 Port Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 (QC3) enabled USB charger. You won't believe how many things on my table uses USB power. I'm actually running out of ports. The QC3 ports I only use it to charge my QC enabled Xiaomi Powerbank Pro 10000mAh. My phone (OnePlus 3) uses OnePlus's proprietary DASH charge technology, so I need a special wall adapter for it... (but 5V 4A charging is dope. 5V 1A in 2017, seriously Apple?) Went to Malacca for CNY. The usual walk walk buy things, nothing special. Took a few photos and uploaded them above. Note to myself: never go Sakura Buffet again! The food not nice, and they actually hid the Salmon sashimi in the fridge, so people won't find and won't take? WTF? Overpriced AF. Watched Kungfu Yoga, great movie as expected starring Jackie Chan :) Company also held a CNY lunch, so above are pictures I took on that day Took some time to add the new Android 7.1 Nougat App Shortcut feature to NRICTools. Works just like Apple's 3D Touch feature on iOS devices. Thanks Jing Hao for the screenshot and testing of the feature during development. #toopoortobuyapixel #wheresmynougat71 Nintendo/Gamefreak also released the new update for Pokemon Bank supporting the latest Pokemon Sun/Moon. Got my Mew over and above is the exclusive Z-move
Lastly, I applied a new theme that is now responsive (thanks to CSS magic, and Weebly?) As always, take care and I'll see you soon :) Okay, so basically I received an email from Weebly to reset my password due to an unauthorized access that obtained user information. Ugh, never did I expect Weebly to have this type of security problems...
Whatever the case, just a quick update. Recently, I've been busy with work. Programming on SGTraffic and NRICTools have been put on hold, unless something really major breaks in my apps. The last update on NRICTools brought new implementation for AES to better protect your encrypted card data (There is no such thing as new AES algorithm, just a new way to encrypt/decrypt plus verification checks). Before the update, the saved data of NRICTools can actually be transferred from one device to another, and then decrypted with another set of fingerprint. It is no longer the case with this new update. SGTraffic is still in closed beta, but it is actually good enough for an open beta. I'll see how I want to deal with it soon. Maybe I'll push out an update for it and then set it to open beta. The problem with SGTraffic is that it still doesn't support one of the main feature that I wanted to add. Which is the ability to favorite any camera and then have them showing at the top slideshow. It is surprising how it is already better than some other apps available on the Play Store today. The fact that SGTraffic has no ads, and will NEVER implement ads is a plus point! Been really tired these past few weeks. Brain working a lot, learning a lot of new things. As always, take care and I'll see you soon! New upcoming Android app by SimplyCode
More details will be revealed soon! Check back soon... As always, take care and I'll see you soon All pictures taken with OnePlus 3. Overall, the pictures taken are detailed and low noise. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the camera. Tell me what you think about the pictures in the comments section below! :) Tonight is my last night in Bangkok.
TLDR: A good place to travel to Reached Bangkok on the 10th at aroubd 6pm. Took the rail train to my hotel (just directly opposite National Stadium train station). Presented my hotel booking confirmation and was told to do the registration on the 9th floor. The first 8 floors are just carparks, which is surprising. The staff was kind and guided me to the lifts and brought me to the counter. Again I presented the booking confirmation to the staff, and soon, a decent looking manager came and brought me up to 25th floor (privilege lounge). There, I was informed about the hotel's no smoking policy and the benefits as a Executive room guest. Basically, I get access to swimming pool, gyms, breakfast and happy hour at the privilege lounge. All is well and I went to my room. The lights and air conditioning were already switched on. The room have a bed, 2 TVs (separated, one in living room and another in bedroom). Chiller with drinks (all complimentary). On top of the chiller, there's a coffee maker, 3 bottle of mineral water (two in glass bottle, taste the same) Toilet is about 3 times the size of my toilet at home, with seperation (in glass) for the toilet bowl, shower and sink. Toiletries like shower gel, conditioning shampoo, body lotion, shower caps, shower gown are provided. There's even an iron and ironing table. Beside the bed, there's an iPhone dock (ugh, no Android) and two bed lamps by the sides. It is a 4 star hotel (Mercure) with all the facilities available for executive guests (it's not like I went for executive, cause no other rooms available when I did the booking) The next day, I went for the breakfast at the privilege lounge. Upon entering the lounge, the same manager greeted me in Thai (which I don't understand, hahahaha!). She even remember my room number (nice!). The place was quiet with only one people (American guy). There's a selection of food like chicken Pao, congee, sausage, pies, salad, to cheese? (those that you have to slice yourself). I didn't know how to use the coffee machine and screwed it up, the staff came to my rescue and made coffee for me (brought to my table). I picked a table with leather seats. Damn, I like quiet places :) but I dislike the feeling of being alone sometimes. Ugh, I think I'm just weird. After eating, I went out to the sky garden (basically outdoor eating area) to take a few pictures and went back in. You can even eat and surf the web using their provided desktop PCs. The staffs were extremely polite and cleared up the plates quickly (the manager on duty did the job) Done with breakfast, went to nearby shopping malls to walk walk and buy some new clothes (watermelon shirt, HAHAHAHAHA! ^_^) Came back at around 5pm and went for the happy hour. Same place, but this time different food. They served red/white wine, beer, cocktails as beverages. This is the first time I ever have alcohol beverage, provided completely free for a hotel stay. For those non alcoholic peeps, they do have juices too. Went back to hotel room after that and then straight to the night market. I was unlucky and it rained soon after I reached there and those stalls started closing early (supposed to close at 12mn). I recorded a few of my walks around Thailand in video (first time bringing my new OnePlus 3 overseas), and will try to upload them back in Singapore. That's about it for the day. It's about 3am right now, 4am Singapore time. I'm tired, goodnight and morning to some As always, take care and I'll see you soon! Just done up the NRICTools for Android page on my website. Spent a few weeks developing the app. I myself love the user interface of the application. It doesn't waste any screen estate in the design, partly also because there are no ads in the app.
You can find similar apps on the Google Play Store that does the same thing for a price, while NRICTools is completely free. It also implements convenient features using the fingerprint sensor hardware found in modern smartphones. The only feature that is hidden, is the themes feature. I spent a lot of time making the theme feature for NRICTools. The theme color fades subtly without requiring a activity restart like other apps. If you blink, you might just miss the fade animation. Once the color is applied, all the app layout will use the color that you selected. The multitasking header will also change color to reflect the theme color that you selected. Themes feature can be unlocked by donating to support NRICTools's development. Trust me, the In-app purchase is MUCH MUCH cheaper than those you find in other apps :) Thanks for reading this post! As always, take care and I'll see you soon! Recently, I got myself a few 128GB MicroSD cards for my Fiio X5 player. Being a technology geek, I test every card I receive to make sure that I'm getting the real deal. I'm writing this post because I found out some 'secrets' behind the cards and it might explain the reason why they are so cheap. I bought two of them, and turns out they are different (inside). First, the flash manufacturer of JABA MicroSD cards As I mentioned earlier, I have two JABA cards. Actually I have a genuine Samsung EVO 128GB card too! About the manufacturer, the first JABA card is manufactured by Barun Electronics. The second JABA card is manufactured by Unknown! (I forgot to take a screenshot, but trust me on that)
Screenshot taken from SD Insight app from the Google Play Store on my Redmi Note (I need to use this phone as I need a phone with MicroSD capability) That alone is enough to show that the cards are actually rebrand from another manufacturer. Secondly, I can clearly see the brand 'PNY' on the second JABA card. You must be thinking right now, what the heck is going on? Yeah, that's what I thought also. With that, I'm assuming the second JABA card is actually a PNY rebrand and the first JABA a GoldFlash rebrand. Third, the speed of all three cards: 1) JABA (PNY rebrand) Warning: Only 122142 of 122143 MByte tested. Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again. Writing speed: 20.0 MByte/s Reading speed: 66.0 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 2) JABA (GoldFlash rebrand) Warning: Only 122110 of 122111 MByte tested. Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again. Writing speed: 25.2 MByte/s Reading speed: 66.2 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 3) Samsung EVO (Genuine) Warning: Only 122617 of 122618 MByte tested. Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again. Writing speed: 19.7 MByte/s Reading speed: 36.1 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 From the results, I have no idea why the Samsung EVO card is the slowest when it is supposed to be the fastest. Then again, the Samsung EVO card is rated at just 48Mb/s It's mind boggling how two cards from technically the same brand can be so different. Quite disappointed if you ask me. Looks like I'm never going to get another JABA card again. I got these cards from Qoo10 SG. As always, take care and I'll see you soon. Saw the new Google Play Movies app redesign and decided to open it up to take a look. Happen to see that there's actually a free movie offered by Google. I suppose it is part of Google's way to attract people to use their service. Considering that downloading movie files from torrent websites are faster than streaming content online, rarely people will buy/rent any movie. (This is just what I think). It's not about the size of the bling, but the size of your heart I'm always more affected when it comes to matters of the heart. Somehow I feel like everytime I watch movies like this, I really get into the movie and feel how the characters in the movie feel. It will either cause me to feel happy/sad.
PS. I like happy endings... If you haven't watched it yet, I highly rrecommend you do (and it's free!). Although online reviews feel like it's a ripoff to other movies, but it sure made my morning 😊 As always, take care and I'll see you soon... (Posted using Weebly for Android) |
