3rd Sergeant rank on my uniform, together with the Combat Skills Badge :)
Specialist Cadet rank on the left, 3rd Sergeant rank on the right :D
I've finally completed my Exercise Crescendo in Thailand. Of course, I'm back and alive :) I also did my Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade (SCGP) at Pasir Laba Camp on the 25th of June. Basically...
Recruit (REC) --> Specialist Cadet Trainee (SCT) --> 3rd Sergeant (3SG)
Pictures from Exercise Crescendo (Thailand)
I have things to do right now so I'll stop here for now. I will try to be back again at night to update this post again.
I changed the theme of my website (like finally), and also for the mobile version.
A fresh new look that represents a fresh new me? :P
As always, take care and I'll see you soon...
Oh, there's one more thing.
I actually threw my giraffe away... like seriously... and don't ask me why :/

This doesn't need much explanation. Just a quick update.

I don't want to go back to the usual way of me saying that its been long since I posted here. A very simple explanation would be that the Android app doesn't work on Lollipop anymore. My phone had been updated to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (Cyanogen OS 12) since the last week or so.
First, an update about myself. I'm still fine, and things are still going on smoothly as they should be. I will be travelling to Thailand from the 22 May 2015 to 12 May 2015 for my Exercise Crescendo. The exercise is part of my Specialist Cadet Course (Professional Term) and then I will be graduating with a 3rd Sergeant rank. I've heard a lot about Thailand recently and they are not all good. Still, I will have to survive that trip and come back safely (People still need me back here in Singapore).
Time flies as usual, and as smooth as my life can be, they change.

Dad bought this last month
Salmon, prawns, etc...
CNY means a new Red case and a new piece of tempered glass screen protector :)
Just checked and found out that it's been a month since I posted anything here on my blog. It is Chinese New Year, so why not post something today right? I'm currently at home, celebrating Chinese New Year with my parents and will only have to book back into camp on Sunday night :)
I managed to watch the highly acclaimed "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie at GV Plaza on the 17th Feb 2015 (6.15pm session). This is a movie I've always wanted to watch, and I thought I won't get the chance to. Of course, the movie was rated R21 and it is my first R21 movie that I've ever watched in theaters. I won't write anything else to spoil the movie for you. If you haven't watched it yet, be sure to go catch it soon!
I know the movie is actually kinda gross for some people. BUT, the OST is actually quite good.

Movie booking confirmation
I've replaced the MP3 version with a FLAC version already!
My OnePlus One also recently received the OTA update to XNPH05Q, which is the last update to the Kitkat build. I've also did a few benchmark to make sure that the new version of CM11s isn't giving me any performance issue. Here you go..

Did I do all of that? Hmm...

Hi everyone, it's has been long since I posted here. In fact, I've brought down my website a few times due to some technical issues with the coding. I managed to fix it, but I didn't post anything.
It is 0043 right now, just past midnight. I can't sleep so I'm typing this post as I slowly fall into my slumber.
I'm back as a cadet in the specialist cadet school. I met a lot of new friends, and I'm glad they welcomed me into their family with open arms. I initially thought I might be outcasted by them as I do not know them at all. I also met a few secondary school friends, poly friends, etc. It's just incredible to be back at SCS.
Throughout these few days, weeks and even months. I've thought through and I think I finally found out the reason for my 'behavior'. I will be working to correct and improve myself to become a better person. Meanwhile, I'm drowning myself in music to keep myself sane while I work my way out of it. The first three weeks of my life here at SCS will see myself having my weekends burned. Therefore, I only have like a day back at home every week to rest and to do my own things. I'm seeing to properly manage and plan my time during weekends so I won't waste my weekends. The good news is that I will have 6 days off day during the Chinese new year week. I will be going to field camp in Tekong on the 4th week. Time flies, it's already 7 months (or even a few years?)
Trust takes a long time to build, but just a moment to destroy. Many things happened, and it brought and forced myself to see who are my true friends. True friends that will stay by me in times of need. I'm fortunate to have a few of them in my life.
If you ask me what's going through my mind right now. I would say, the time has come. It is now your group, your clique, and my group, my clique. Two completely separate groups, walking towards opposite direction. It is not unexpected though, just didn't expect it to happen so early.
I'm a person who value consistency, I don't like to change often unless I'm forced to change. I can easily both sides of the story without much problem. I can see through your mood in one look. I can know whether you are feeling happy today or not, easily. Sadly, such skills only work with others. How I wish I understand myself better, knowing exactly what I want. How I wish I could be more persistent. How I wish I could persevere longer.
People come and go, and I have to accept it. Only the truest stay. Everyone is in your life for a reason. After they have served their purpose, they will disappear and leave.
I will keep those true to me close to my heart and try to 'extend' your expiry date with me. Goodnight!
As always, take care and I'll see you soon.

This is the review of the Mi Band from Xiaomi. Before I start, I wish to inform that I've been using the Mi Band from the 20th December 2014 till 11th January 2015 (today). Mi Band is a fitness tracker from Xiaomi that cost only SGD$19.99 from the official Xiaomi website. It is a band that you wear on your left/right wrist like a watch.(or even neck?) Currently, it has the ability to track your day activities and sleep.

If you are too lazy to read the specs printed at the back of the box, here you go.
The tracker itself is removable from the strap. Tracker feels solid and sturdy as it is made with 100% magnesium alloy. The front of the tracker itself are 3 multicolored LEDs that you can configure using the Mi Band app that's available on the Google Play Store. Overall, wearing the Mi Band is comfortable and extremely light. You will almost forget that you are wearing it. Nonetheless, you should take your Mi Band off and wash from time to time as dirt can get stuck around the band. This problem isn't just specific to the Mi Band, in fact it happens to all watches you might wear. Washing will make sure that the dirt will not cause any skin irritation that might happen for people with sensitive skin.
Next, let's move on to the Mi Band app...
- Battery: Lithium-Polymer
- Battery Capacity: 41mAh
- Voltage: DC 5.0V
- Input Current: 25mA (TYP)
- Connection Type: Bluetooth 4.0
- Water Resistance: IP67
- Contents: Mi Band, Strap, Charger Cable, User Manual
- Device requirements: Smartphone supporting Bluetooth 4.0, with Android 4.4 (Kitkat) or above. iOS is supported too.

Next, let's move on to the Mi Band app...
Activity tracking screen
Sleep tracking screen
Now, you must be thinking hard about why do I have only one entry recorded in the app. That brings me to my gripe with the Mi Band. The Mi Band app 'deletes' your detailed activity record for the day at midnight. It is possible to view your activity records for the past few days but you lose the ability to view it in detail.
Activity record for the 6th January 2015
Sleep record for the 6th January 2015
You can clearly see that the app provides a summarized view of your past days, without giving the user the ability to view activities in detail. In detail I mean being able to view stats for a particular day, eg. The amount of steps I took for that day at 2pm? (or insert any random time here). I should say that the activity tracking was rather accurate according to my tests, and sleep tracking works quite well too. Sleep tracking works automatically and there isn't a button to click before you go to sleep like other fitness tracker.
Settings for Mi Band
Alarm setting for Mi Band
Typical things you would expect from a fitness tracker. Find band allows you to vibrate your band, hopefully helping you to find your band. You can configure Mi Band's light color (Blue, Orange, Green or Red). Incoming call feature will vibrate your Mi Band after a specified duration upon receiving a call. The Mi Band app is quite badly translated and some description just doesn't make any sense. The "Vibrate band when a you receive a notification" is actually the Mi Band app displaying notification on your phone upon any notification from the band. Others reading the description might think that the feature is to vibrate the Mi Band whenever you receive a notification on your phone. At least that was what I thought initially... :(
The alarm feature is either a hit or miss. I won't consider myself a heavy sleeper but the Mi Band vibrating on my wrist simply isn't enough to wake me up.
Lastly, the battery life for the Mi Band is INCREDIBLE! Xiaomi advertised that the Mi Band will provide 30 days of battery life before needing a recharge. From my own testing and normal usage, 8 days of using the Mi Band drained about 13% battery. Let's do some math...
13% battery > 8 days of usage
100% battery > (8/13)*100 = ~ 61 days?
That's some amazing battery life taking into account that most fitness tracker don't even have enough battery capacity to last a week.
Conclusion: The Mi Band is a ridiculously good buy at just SGD$19.99. The hardware is good and is only limited by the sub-par software. I hope these issues will eventually get resolved one way or another via a software update/or even a firmware update to the Mi Band itself. At that price point, users can definitely try out the whole fitness tracking experience without breaking the bank, and to also decide for themselves whether this product category will work for them. I will definitely be updating this review if there are any updates to the Mi Band that will affect my experience using it on a daily basis.
