A new home on the internet

Every so often, it feels right to start with a clean page.

This website is getting a new beginning: a place to bring projects, writing, and ideas together. There’s room here for finished work and the interesting things that happen along the way.

The hosting provider, Weebly, decided to shutdown their services in Singapore. I had previously went to Articulation Sites as they had provided some useful tools to allow anyone to move from Weebly to them.

I was previously on a grandfathered plan with Weebly. The move to Articulation Sites means I had to pay many times more than I was with Weebly. This website started way back when I was still in polytechnic. Back then, I did not had any income, but I still managed to maintain this site.

With the move to Articulation Sites, and looking through the options available to me. I thought maybe it is time for something greater, something that gives me far more control than going with any provider.

The website you are seeing this post right now, is completely self owned. I have built a brand new website, with a full backend CMS editor. The CMS editor allows for me to customize literally all aspects of the website. It also provides extremely detailed telemetry information. Instead of procuring a service provider to manage and host the website, the website now can be hosted on any provider, fully containerized and modern, works on any device.

I have archived all the old posts that I posted previously when I was with Weebly and Articulation Sites. I already have a migration plan for them and will slowly work on restoring them. Stay tuned!

I managed to build my own website, with almost all the existing features from Weebly to boot. This article is written from my CMS backend, with content blocks supporting drag and drop just like on Weebly. With the amount of control I have now, I could build and add any feature that I want.

Features like embedding YouTube videos, image carousel, image gallery, full screen viewer are all already supported with this release.

I also added extensive theming support. With controls allowing me to create a brand new template for the website with just a few clicks. I have so much more to share. This is my initial release as I work through some of the remaining pesky bugs. I hope to share more about what I have built once I am ready.

Take care and I'll see you soon!
